LOUD, PROUD
& A LITTLE BIT EXTRA
//_STARK_RAVING_RHUBARB
If you’re looking for ‘business as usual,’ you’re in the wrong place. We don’t do lukewarm, and we definitely don’t do beige.
We believe a brand should be a disruption—a deliberate, well-executed statement that refuses to be ignored. From the first sketch to the final pixel, we balance the slick authority of high-end design with a raw, unfiltered energy.
We service the bold and the brave across every corner of SA. No fluff. No limits. Just the tart truth.

THE AUDIT OF THE ORDINARY- We don’t start with mood boards; we start with a demolition. Most brands are drowning in the ‘safe middle’ — a sea of static aesthetics and echoed messaging. We identify the generic habits holding your identity hostage and replace them with high-contrast clarity.
[ 2 ]
THE TENSION POINT – Great design isn’t about harmony; it’s about controlled friction. We look for the ‘Riot’ in the brand — the part that refuses to fit in. We lean into the resistance until the identity feels alive, intentional, and impossible to ignore.
[ 3 ]
THE DIGITAL ARTIFACT – We don’t build ‘assets’; we create artifacts. Every logo, every pixel, and every line of code is designed to leave a mark. If it doesn’t provoke a reaction, it doesn’t belong in the Rhubarb portfolio. This is the end of the uninspired.

Rhubarb Media wasn’t built to ‘circle back’ or ‘synergize’ your brand into a coma. Born in the heart of JHB, we operate on the belief that if your visual identity doesn’t make your competitors a little bit uncomfortable, you’re just paying for expensive wallpaper.
We are a hybrid of obsessive strategic precision and the kind of creative rebellion that usually gets people uninvited from board meetings. We don’t just build websites; we build digital territory. Because in a world of templated thinking and ‘best practice’ boredom, someone has to be the outlier. You’re looking at it.
Standard is the enemy. Let’s get to work.

// THE CREW //
THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE RIOT
Good brands don’t happen by accident. They happen when strategy, design and execution work together.
Meagan
VP Creative
Design isn’t just making things look good. It’s understanding people, solving problems and knowing when to break the rules. That’s the part I enjoy most.
ORIGIN STORY
How I got into this industry
My career has been a bit of a scenic route. Sales came first, followed by social media and marketing, before I stepped into a role where I wore just about every creative hat imaginable, from design and websites to content and campaigns. Turns out I loved the creative side so much, I never looked back.
DESKTOP CONFESSION
What’s on my desktop background
The Rhubarb Media logo.
Equal parts brand pride and a daily reminder of what I’m building.
FUEL OF CHOICE
My coffee order
Cappuccino or Americano.
Cold milk.
Two sweeteners.
The caffeine keeps me awake.
The sweetness keeps me pleasant.
HILL I’LL DIE ON
A work principle I’ll always stand by
Don’t overthink it.
The first idea is usually the best one.
The next ten are usually just the inner critic getting involved.
OFF THE CLOCK
What I’m doing when I’m not working
Reading
Home workouts
Handstands
Climbing trees
Hanging out with my kids
CURRENT RABBIT HOLE
What’s currently taking over my browser
Besides the 20 tabs full of websites, designs and client work…
House hunting.
With approximately R0 in savings.
Manifesting is free.
Sian
UX / UI Specialist
I believe the best digital experiences feel effortless. I’m fascinated by understanding how people think, creating intuitive user journeys, and making websites that are just as enjoyable to use as they are to look at.
ORIGIN STORY
How I got into this industry
I started out writing copy for Glamour Magazine after studying Fine Art at UCT. Fashion led me to Zando, social media led me to an Australian agency, and somewhere along the way I realised I was far more interested in designing digital experiences than just talking about them.
DESKTOP CONFESSION
What’s on my desktop background
A NSFW drawing I did a few years ago.
I still love the colours.
FUEL OF CHOICE
My coffee order
A classic cappuccino.
I’m Italian…
We don’t really mess around with coffee.
HILL I’LL DIE ON
A work principle I’ll always stand by
Don’t get too precious about your work.
Feedback makes the work better.
Not worse.
OFF THE CLOCK
What I’m doing when I’m not working
Walking my pitbull.
Drawing whatever comes to mind.
CURRENT RABBIT HOLE
What’s currently taking over my browser
Nothing too wild…
Unless six reality TV tabs on my iPad count.
Zane 'O
Web Developer
I love solving problems with code and turning ambitious ideas into websites that are fast, reliable and built to last. If there’s a way to build it, I’m probably already figuring it out.
ORIGIN STORY
How I got into this industry
An Adobe design and web course back in 2016 opened the door to development, and I haven’t stopped building since. Working with MVC frameworks taught me HTML, CSS, JavaScript and SQL, and those skills have been keeping me busy ever since.
DESKTOP CONFESSION
What’s on my desktop background
A black screen.
I barely look at it anyway.
FUEL OF CHOICE
My coffee order
Coffee.
Always coffee.
HILL I’LL DIE ON
A work principle I’ll always stand by
Nothing is impossible.
If you can imagine it…
We’ll build it.
OFF THE CLOCK
What I’m doing when I’m not working
Still coding.
Still learning.
Apparently I don’t know how to switch off.
CURRENT RABBIT HOLE
What’s currently taking over my browser
Chrome DevTools.
Probably for longer than I’d like to admit.
